Day 2: 2 layers of CMU down!

When older friends and mentors tell you that you learn more on a work site than in a class room, they're not kidding.

These past two days have taught the team so much more than we were expecting to learn-- from how to mix mortar on site, how to level a building, methods to make sure that CMU blocks are level, as well as how to use epoxy and all thread rods. As icing on top of the cake, we've been trying to do this all in Spanish- que difícil!

But not to be deterred, we've had great help from Bindi, our wonderful cultural guide, as well as team members who are able to communicate fluently in Spanish (shoutout to Andrea).

On the community engagement side of things, Liz has been hard at work with Selina and has been able to come up with a variety of ways for us to engage with the population that uses garden of hope, as well as interact with other groups focused on sustainable farming.

Building wise, we've been able to finish off the bottom layer of the teaching kitchen and set things up for the rest of the structure. It's been incredible to see the building come to life!
